Measurement of the biomechanical properties of the skin

As with the Cutometer®, the Dermal Torque Meter® measures the physical properties of the surface layers but at the level of the skin by the angular motion of an annular area of skin between a fixed disc and a moving disc of 20 mm in diameter to which a torque is applied for a given time.

 

The probe is applied to the skin using a double-sided adhesive. The angle of rotation of the central disc is measured by a high-resolution angular sensor.

The skin deformation curve is similar to that recorded by the Cutometer® and its analysis allows the same parameters to be calculated as those of the Cutometer®, describing the biomechanical properties of the skin.
