VAPOMETER®
ASSESSMENT OF THE CUTANEOUS BARRIER
The Vapometer® measures, in a non-invasive way, the TransEpidermal Water Loss (TEWL), i.e. the evaporation of water contained in the skin. This data gives us information on the function of the skin barrier of the stratum corneum. The more damaged the skin barrier is, the easier water evaporates.
The Vapometer® is equipped with a closed cylindrical chamber that contains temperature and relative humidity sensors.
MEASUREMENT OF TRANSEPIDERMAL WATER LOSS
The TEWL ranges from 0 to 200 g/m²h and corresponds to the quantity of water evaporated from the skin surface per unit of time.
The measurement estimates the air pressure gradient located on the skin surface. It is obtained 10 seconds after the probe is applied onto the skin and is displayed on the digital screen of the device.
This technique is available in our centres in France and in China.
